REVLON COLORBURST MATTE BALM || FIRST PRODUCT REVIEW

Hello sweets!
A whole lot of talking is made up of today's post!
Cassie Thriftier became online 2 years ago and all I've ever wanted was to share my thriftstyle outfits, inspire and be inspired by other bloggers who has different taste on dressing up particularly thrift fashion. I came to a wonder, why I have never ever got to try reviewing a product that I am using? Well, my answer is: because I am not a beauty blogger. Yes, I used products and cosmetics like everyone else, when I'm using a certain item I just use 'em, if I don't like 'em I dumped them or gave them away. Writing an opinion about a certain products doubted me a lot. I'm kinda hesitant like in a way my readers won't understand much my words and adjectives I might be using in order to bring my true opinion or feedback, the not-so-good english that exercise and I am also holding on a dogma that, "I don't buy something to have a topic on my blog" , instead I blog what I have and being happy with it . I don't bash blogger's that post on what is their new  purchase, please don't get my words negatively. It just happens that buying products to blog about is not practical for my thrift pragmatic lifestyle so I always leave the "reviewing" on other bloggers particularly for beauty / lifestyle bloggers. Well anyways, those doubtful thoughts somehow changed, even just a trial though, I will still test the waters on reviewing products.  And I wanted to challenge myself on reviewing and getting my opinion on my latest purchase that is worth using. I suppose I won't be able to review products that are just a waste of time and money.

I want to share this lipstick review because I am in the tout to tell you about it. I am yearning for the lipstick Heroine, no, not the Heroine per se, but the limited edition MAC Lorde Lipstick in Pure Heroine . I find the dark plum shade quite intriguing and I really wanted to try it myself, but it's too pricey for me, online stores here in Ph. price it at least Ph950, it's equivalent to $21.69.

Lorde's pictures are all borrowed from google images

So proceeding to my love plum plump
instead of buying the pricey Heroine, I opted on Revlon lippies. I got this Revlon's Colorburst Matte Balm in "Shameles Desinvlote". Bought it at Watsons for about Php575 ($13.13). At first I thought it's just a matte lipstick, but it's a mix of tinted lip balm and a matte lippies, I was hesitant at first on buying this, how does it felt like and look like wearing it. But when I try the tester, without thinking twice, I bought it.

I made the swatches to, 1 coat, 2nd coat and 3rd coat. It's very pigmented, especially when worn on the lips. Though it's said that this is matte, don't expect that this is long lasting. It appears on the lips as matt-ey but it's generally a lip balm and can wipe off easily with a right amount of pressure. Has a eucalyptus scent and my lips felt the minty flavor that last for a few minutes and it's tasteless. If you swipe it 4 or more coats you an actually dark plum shade. Though my pictures only show 2 coats on my lips. Because of the inevitable color of the monitor, it is one shade darker than what it's look like on the pictures shown.

Tada!
Here's what it looks like on my lips. Ha-ha, chubby face! And the super thick eyebrows!

I am trying also the headband technique curls, and this is what the result looks like after an hour. I was taking pictures on the most secluded place at the office that's why back ground is quite unpleasant. ;)
Without Flash but I am in front of a flourescent lamp
With Flash
Like I've said, this is a lip balm that is why it's kinda soft and very glide-y. I think I can consume this for only 1-3 months if used every day.

Pros:
-It has a minty flavor
-Pigmented
-the lipstick case and cap is sturdy
-the lipstick bullet is quite unique because of the crayon like tip.
-easy to glide
Cons:
-Pricey for a lip balm
-very drying and not enough moisture benefits

Summary:
All in all I find this Colorburst line is quite good because they formulate matte lipstick and a lip balm. But If you're after advantage of a lip stain moisturizer per se, it's a thin line between the quantity and quality. If you want a matte lipstick you might want to try another brand. If you're a one frugal cosmetic user like me, this is acceptable enough for its price and quite nearly good quality. It's drying in a long run though and It's nice to experience this lippies but i think I'll be trying another product than to buy this again. Even the shade that I am looking for isn't a lot like Mac's "pure heroine" it's still a scene steal-er and fine Aubergine shade color. I must say this lippie's shade is quite perfect for whom that doesn't have a fainted heart, I can wear this in the office, at sunny days, rainy/gloomy days. Just in time that Autumn is nearly coming I want to challenge myself and see If I can create fall palette outfits with the contrast of a plum and dark orchid lips. What do you think of that combination?  ;)
I'm up and about to save more dime for the Pure Heroine! (finger's crossed!)

So what do you think of my first review? If you have criticism and suggestions about my first product review  please let me know...

SISTER'S GRADUATION AND OUR VISIT TO ST. JEROME CHURCH

April 11 is a very glorious day for us because our baby has been graduated Bachelor of Arts in Business AministrationMajor in Human Resource Management. I never thought I will have this maternal feeling of enjoyment that she had finished already her Bachelor's Degree . If you’re a regular reader of this little blog, then you already knew that I had only one sister and I am the not so big sister. A little information also about the attire of the graduate. Her University (my alma matter too) follows the unique academic regalia of University of the Philippines. *"Sablay" a sash joined in front by an ornament and embroidered or printed with the University's initials in "Baybayin script" and running geometric motifs of indigenous Philippine ethnic groups.

The fun part is when I am retouching my sister's hair and make-up, my boyfriend is also fixing my hair due to time constraint I never get the chance to do my hair. Thankful that I am because Michael is always here that we consider jack of all trades ;)))

And Voila!!
This is the finished up-do that my boyfriend did to me. So messy but be very cute!!

Pardon for the twist and tangle necklace.

For a sister like me, I never forget to dress up too! And for scorching hot days like we experience I have decided that I will wear something comfortable but eligible outfit that is perfect for this special day. Pastel colors is still in this season that's why, the purple blazer that I thrift way back is pleasing on this combo although I really had the hard time with this cute heels.

Thriftier's Outfit:

Double Layered Cross Gold Necklace - Amanda's Place
Navy Blue Inner Top - Off brand
Purple Floral Blazer - Thrifted
Pastel Skirt - Pay Less (local boutique)
Pastel Pink Shoes - Sophie Martin

This actual photo is a phobia conquering too! My phobia posing in front of so many strangers that is waiting for the Graduation program to end. *sighs* I was like making my own shield not to make eye contact with them and I am aware that they all stared at us while we shoot! The picture was like carefree because of the wind accidentally blown on my skirt. ;D

It is almost dusk when the Graduation program ends, but Papito decided to visit his old School the St. Jerome Academy. He enters the academy about early 1970's but didn't finish his studies there because of untoward and tight circumstances but he finished his school at Manila. He also tell us the story of his mischief and troubles about being adolescent here. ;)

I guess it's just a few knows that I have the fascination for a beautiful old church. While parking the van, I kept saying "oh my gosh, the church is so beautiful". Even the looming of the night didn't keep me to stare and gaze the beauty of the church especially the Baroque details and the belfry.

The stains and cracks of the structure give additional flare to the baroque style of the old church and the dramatic belfry although the belfry itself is considered not to be visited because of its aged and accident might happen if people try to visit the actual interior of it.

Looking very tired.. ;)

Mama!!

The only picture that me and Michael had. <3

The visit on this church really mesmerized me. Thanks for the little tour Papa.

Love's a lot

MY SCHEDULE WON'T LET ME DRESS UP FOR HALLOWEEN // FAVORITE HALLOWEEN MAKE-UP IDEAS

My problem about sparing a time on my blog is not new to those who reads my blog regularly. Moreover Halloween is just around the corner, but as this special holiday approaches, my work is doubling it’s time requirements, as if it’s we’re on “peak” time and doing a Halloween make-up or dressing up for Halloween is one of my biggest endeavor as a blogger. But the dilemma that is mentioned above is a pain..
Now I am sharing with you the make-up ideas that I really really want to try. I want you to get inspired to these images from google when I was surfing the internet last month. (Yes! Last month!)

The first one is very simple at first look, but looking at it closer, it seems that it's hard to do the lace details. The 2nd one is the simplest candy skull make-up I have ever seen so far. I have done a trial  resemble with this one but at that time I'm not yet a blogger. I have no chance to show it to you.

Ahh.. Corpes Bride, one of the greatest muses on the cosplay scene for me. And lastly, this romantic macabre/Gothic style Halloween make up below. I think the reason why I love this make-up and styling is because of the very messy and dry hair. Getting my hair messy is not a bother at all because whenever I woke up in the morning, my hair is like this.. ;P

All images are from pinterest.com.  Credits are given to their rightful owners.

I'm wishing you all a wonderful and fabulous Halloween. I envy you girls because I can't dress up for this year. I am so sad. ;(

Happy Halloween!!!

Fangs for you,
Cassie

Gloomy Week Day 1 X FOTD

Monsoon rain and typhoon Maring shared heavy choruses of rain since last night, and today classes of all levels including some government offices are suspended. A heavy gloom Struck me and I’m unable to get up as colorful as I am. I’ve decided to wear all black because my mom told me that if it’s rainy or cold season dark colored clothes helps our body to get warm, I don’t know if there’s a scientific explanation for that but it’s effective for me. I am wearing an old top from Listed, a simple leggings and paired them with my favorite black pumps.

And for the first time I've got a nerve to share with you my FOTD. I am not a pro but I love putting colors in my visage. I do my face with smoky and semi-grungy look. Let me tell you my little secret on how I make making my eyes, I am lazy to use a brush so all this time I’m just using my fingers, the ring finger to be exact on blending, defining the creases and doing the inner corner and outer V.

On the Face:
Skingent Day Protective Cream - Hbc
Black eyeshadow - Quatro eye palette - Essence
Cheeks - E.l.f Contouring Blush and Bronzing Cream
Eyeliner pencil - Ever Bilena
Eyeliner Pen - Hbc
Lips - Mauvey; Ever Bilena
---------------------------
OOTD:
Top (old) - Listed
Leggings - Dalagita
Pumps - Shoe Tree
Layered Necklace - Girl Shoppe
Wrap up leather bracelet & Skull+cross Bracelet - both Random

In case if you notice and wonder with my bushy eyebrows, I never shave nor pluck them. I just keep them that way. I'm not used into sexy thin brows but I bleach them at times whenever I wanted a different aura.
